Artek: Reviving Timeless Finnish Design for Modern Living.

Finnish design epitomizes functionality and elegance, qualities that have become synonymous with Artek. Founded in 1935, Artek's legacy is a tribute to enduring design and forward-thinking creativity.

Founded by the visionary couple Alvar and Aino Aalto, along with their friends Marie Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl, Artek has been at the forefront of modern furniture and lifestyle equipment, blending art and technology in their creations.

The name "Artek" itself is a fusion of "art" and "technology," reflecting the brand's ethos of combining artistic expression with functional utility. From its inception, Artek gained acclaim for its mastery of wood bending techniques, setting the stage for a journey marked by iconic designs and enduring elegance.

One of Artek's most celebrated aspects is its diverse range of designers, which includes luminaries like Ilmari Tapiovaar, Shiger Ban, Hella Jongerius, Harri Koskinen, Enzo Mari, and Tobias Rehberger. These creative minds have contributed to Artek's evolution, expanding its portfolio beyond the Aalto couple's creations to encompass a global perspective on modern design.

Among Artek's signature pieces are the Chair 65, the Rocket Bar Stool originally designed for kitchen use, the Mademoiselle armchairs, and the A331 and A110 luminaires. These designs, cherished for their functionality, simplicity, and aesthetic appeal, continue to resonate with contemporary sensibilities.

In 2013, Artek joined the Vitra Group, further solidifying its position as a leader in modern design. However, Artek's essence remains rooted in its founding principles, as it continues to promote a modern culture of living through furniture, exhibitions, and educational initiatives.

As Artek welcomes the spring of 2024, it unveils a captivating collection that pays homage to its heritage while embracing new dimensions of creativity. The highlight of this season is the revival of Alvar Aalto's foldable table DL81C, a timeless piece characterized by its L-leg design and practicality.

The foldable table DL81C, with its folding extension leaf, exemplifies Artek's commitment to space efficiency and versatility. Available in classic finishes and three limited edition color pairs – clay/walnut, pistachio/olive, and vapor/smokey blue – these tables showcase Forbo's high-quality linoleum, adding a touch of warmth and elegance to any space.

Alongside the foldable tables, Artek introduces new sizes and seat options for Aalto benches, such as the iconic Bench 153 with a solid seat option and the elongated Bench 168B. These additions enhance the functionality of Artek's collection, offering solutions for diverse living environments without compromising on style or craftsmanship.

Whether it's optimizing small dining spaces or adding character to larger settings, Artek's spring arrivals embody the brand's enduring appeal and commitment to modern living. With each piece crafted with precision and passion, Artek continues to inspire generations with designs that stand the test of time.
