Whiskey, Fiddles, and a Dash of Southern Soul: An Evening Where Jack Daniel's Triple Mash Took Center Stage.

Imagine this: you enter a dimly lit, amber-soaked bar where every detail whispers of a tale spun in wood and smoke. You’re welcomed by Jack Daniel's, the old Tennessee troubadour, but tonight he’s dressed up for a new ballad—a sensory sonnet called The Triple Mash Medley.

Dean & Nancy on 22 was transformed into the ultimate stage for this one-night-only tasting experience, a duet between whiskey and music, each note carefully plucked to bring out every nuance in the glass.

Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash isn’t just a whiskey; it’s a symphony of three Bottled-In-Bond expressions, each meticulously crafted in Lynchburg and bottled at a raucous 100 proof. This blend of 60% Tennessee Rye, 20% Tennessee Whiskey, and 20% American Malt tells a story of craftsmanship that nods respectfully to tradition yet skips just a little off-beat. Here, whiskey isn’t only distilled—it’s orchestrated.

And the plot thickens: Jack Daniel’s teamed up with Oxford University’s Professor Charles Spence, a maestro of multisensory experience, along with the virtuosos of String Musicians Australia, to bring a first-ever “sonically seasoned” soundtrack to the night.

The guitar, fiddle, and double bass hummed alongside each sip, creating a musical landscape where flavours felt almost tactile, and the sound danced through the palate. It’s a clever riff on “notes” in every sense, a sensory harmony of grain and chord, oak and melody.

As you raise the glass, the nose is a smoky curtain call of warming oak, delicate petrichor, and a playful twist of vanilla and toffee apple. It’s as if the whiskey itself is whispering a Tennessee love song, rugged yet rich, with each note entwining in the air.

Then comes the first taste, and your senses are pulled into a roundelay of flavors: honey on granary toast, dried fruit mingling with baking spice, like the coziest kitchen on an autumn day. The rye spice lingers like the last note of a fiddle, leaving you swaying long after the sip is gone.

But don’t be fooled—Triple Mash has a few tricks up its sleeve. On the initial sip, you might catch a flash of metal, as if the whiskey is tuning up for the evening. Give it a moment, and the flavours deepen, swirling into a rye-laced chocolate and a subtle vinegary tang, like a complex chord resolving in a minor key. The malt takes the lead, and suddenly you’re on a whiskey-infused journey through banana bread, cornbread, and even a hint of lemongrass—all the while, the music carrying you along like a slow two-step.

The Triple Mash Medley event proved that whiskey is not just a drink but an experience, and tonight, Jack Daniel’s brought country music to life through sound, flavour, and pure Southern soul.

And of course, no such evening would be complete without a master of ceremonies, and in this case, we had the best: Jack Daniel’s ambassador extraordinaire Andrew Tsai. With all the charm and expertise of a seasoned storyteller, he guided us through the night, weaving his deep knowledge and unabashed love for Jack Daniel’s into the proceedings. His anecdotes were as rich as the whiskey itself, peppered with insights and just the right dash of Tennessee charm.

Every pour was punctuated by his enthusiasm, each tasting note met with his knowing smile—a connoisseur’s appreciation, shared openly with everyone present, bringing it to life, adding warmth and depth to the experience, letting every guest feel like a confidant in the lore and legacy of Jack Daniel’s.
